The Operation Sindoor Cup – a Sadbhawna Cricket Match was more than just a sporting event—it was a powerful symbol of national unity, resilience, and remembrance. Held in the wake of one of the darkest days in Kashmir’s recent history, the match stood as a solemn yet spirited tribute to the lives lost and the bravery displayed by the Indian Armed Forces.

On April 22, 2025, the tranquility of Pahalgam, Kashmir, was shattered when a brutal terror attack claimed 26 innocent lives. What began as a peaceful journey into the heart of nature turned into a nightmare, as families, laughter, and memories were replaced by devastation, grief, and silence. The attackers aimed to break India’s spirit—but they underestimated the nation’s strength.

India responded with unwavering resolve. On May 7, the government launched Operation Sindoor, a precise and strategic military operation aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure across the border. Lasting four days, Operation Sindoor concluded on May 10, marking a significant milestone in the fight against terror and a reminder of India’s unbreakable will.

To honour the heroes behind Operation Sindoor, Member of Parliament Ramesh Awasthi initiated the Operation Sindoor Cup – a Sadbhawna Cricket Match. This unique event brought together Sansad XI and Sena XI in a spirited game that transcended politics and professions, uniting players and spectators in a common purpose—paying homage to the nation’s fallen and those who defend it.

Despite a rain delay, the match began with a moving rendition of the Rashtragan. Sansad XI won the toss, but it was Sena XI who claimed victory with a decisive 9-wicket win. The entire event echoed with patriotic fervor and emotional solidarity.

Special tributes were paid to the families of the martyrs, who were honoured by the Chief Guest. MP Ramesh Awasthi also presented awards to selfless volunteers who contributed to the success of the event.
